Is it me or has Rihanna left the building?
21-year-old Robyn Rihanna Fenty or Rihanna as she’s known has morphed into someone much darker. The Barbados beauty started off her career at 15-years-old after forming a girl group with two other girls. Record producer Evan Rogers and his wife saw them perform in 2003 and instantly loved Rihanna.
The group auditioned for Rogers, who said that “the minute Rihanna walked into the room, it was like the other two girls didn’t exist.” While auditioning for Rogers, Rihanna sang Destiny’s Child’s cover of “Emotion“.
Soon after turning 16, Rihanna moved in with Rogers and his wife and started working overtime to get her music career going. They sent her demo to Def Jam Records and bam, Jay-Z, who was their president at the time, signed her on the spot.
Rihanna’s debut single “Pon de Replay” generated a lot of buzz and put her on the music map and peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100. Now fast forward to June 2007 and you see a totally different Rihanna. You would never think she was the artist behind the songs: Pon de Replay, If it’s Lovin’ that You Want, or SOS
Rihanna’s third album Good Girl Gone Bad was definitely much edgier and much darker. Both Ne-Yo and Rihanna wrote songs for that album. She developed a more sexual image while recording this album and cut and dyed her hair black.
Umbrella was undoubtedly the hottest single reaching number one in the United Kingdom for 10 straight weeks. The video is damn right sexy, but some critics say there’s something very sinister about it. I guess if you dissect its lyrics, you’re bound to find something odd.
A critic who goes by the name Vigilant wrote an intense pieces surrounding Rihanna’s Umbrella video. The author scrutinizes her every move that you can’t fail to notice that maybe the author’s right. Basically, the author states that the song is about becoming possessed by evil or the Devil. The Devil offered her success, fame and riches in exchange for Rihanna’s soul and that’s what the video is about. You can check out the author’s study at the link below. It’s a damn good study at that!

Rihanna and singer Chris Brown shared a romantic and turbulent relationship. Their relationship reached new heights after Brown was found guilty for assaulting Rihanna on March 5, 2009. To this day, Rihanna has publicly stated that she still misses Brown. Maybe she turned on him while being “possessed” and that’s why he hit her? I’m not justifying his actions because it’s totally unacceptable for a man to hit a woman, but he must’ve snapped or something.
Asked if she misses him, the 21-year-old star told a US radio show, “Sometimes. Actually, yes. There are a lot of reminders, like a lot of hotel rooms, a lot of places we’ve been to together, music. There are different things that come up that are reminders of your ex.”
And she’s more likely to turn up the volume than switch off the radio when a Chris Brown song comes on.
“I don’t snub or turn it off, I listen. I like his music,” she said.
Her new album titled Rated R is freaky and weird. If you watch her new videos, you’ll know what I’m talking about. One video which is freakishly scary is Disturbia.
Watch it below if you haven’t seen it already. It’s a far cry from her Barbados days in Pon de Replay.
This Vigilant Citizen wrote a study on Rihanna’s Disturbia video as well. I’ll copy and paste some of the information and a link if you want to follow more of its study.
Intro
Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum
Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum
What’s wrong with me?
Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum
Why do I feel like this?
Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum
I’m going crazy now
In the intro, Rihanna wonders what’s happening. “What’s wrong with me” and “I’m going crazy now” allude to the fact her mind isn’t functioning properly, as if it was taken over by an unknown force.
While she asks herself those questions, we hear a repetitive chant that goes “Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum”. This is basically a spell aimed to mesmerize and hypnotize the subject, a practice reminiscent of ritualistic magic. If you know about ancient practices of Black Magic, those spells where used to opens the listener’s mind, placing him/her in a highly suggestive state. So, in the context of the song the Evil Entity is playing with Rihanna’s head, mesmerizing her to open the gateway to possession.
First Verse
No more gas in the rig, can’t even get it started
Nothing heard, nothing said, can’t even speak about it
All my life, on my head, don’t wanna think about it
Feels like I’m going insane, yeah
“No more gas in the rig”
A rig means a car, a vessel, a means of transportation. Rihanna’s rig is her body. She’s no longer in control of her body because evil has rendered her powerless. Because of this her rig is “out of gas”, it cannot move by its own means anymore.“Nothing heard, nothing said, can’t even speak about it”
She can’t hear or say anything by her own means because she is disconnected from the outside world. She can’t speak about it because she has agreed to keep her deal with Evil secret. Even if she wanted to break that secrecy, she couldn’t because she is no longer in control of her thoughts.“All my life, on my head, don’t wanna think about it, Feels like I’m going insane, yeah”
Since she has been possessed, Rihanna’s life has been so unbearable that she doesn’t even want to think about it. She feels like she is losing her mental sanity.
It’s a thief in the night to come and grab you
It can creep up inside you and consume you
A disease of the mind it can control you
It’s too close for comfort
Those lines are very revealing and explain the true nature of Rihanna’s disturbance.
“It’s a thief in the night to come and grab you”
A thief is someone that is swift and sneaky. Furthermore, a thief in the night is, on top of being swift and sneaky, hiding in darkness. He is basically invisible. Rihanna describes an invisible entity that “came and grabbed her”. She is referring to the devil entity who raped her spiritually and physically in the song “Umbrella”.“It can creep up inside you and consume you”
This line can be interpreted in a sexual and spiritual way. The devil entity has creeped up inside Rihanna and consumed her physically by raping her. It has also creeped up inside her thoughts and took control of her soul.“A disease of the mind it can control you”
Disease of the mind means that Rihanna’s mind isn’t functioning correctly, it is under the control of another entity.“It’s too close for comfort”
Her state of possession is making her uncomfortable. The presence of the devil entity is way too close – its inside of her – which is painful in a physical and spiritual way.

There are rumors she’s in the Illuminati along with Jay Z, Kanye West, Beyoncé and even Lady Gaga’s in the mix. I don’t know what’s the truth, but it never hurt doing your own research surrounding all of these allegations. Her new single Russian Roulette is causing controversy because some people think the song promotes suicide.
